'I Wanna Go'

What the heck? Britney's been in the news as a "statuesque" beauty, so here you go:

Britney Spears at VMAs: The Modern-Pop Definition of 'Statuesque'

From Spencer Kornhaber, at The Atlantic, "Lady Gaga and Britney Spears Share a Surreal Moment at the MTV VMAs." Here's the kicker:

The two almost kissed, and then broke off at the last moment. But Gaga kept leering, standing uncomfortably close to Britney as she attempted to give a barely felt acceptance speech. What's more, Britney had to simultaneously thank the world and introduce the next performer, Beyonce Knowles. It was a moment of weird indignity for Spears: a younger star awkwardly hogging the spotlight, a roughly contemporary diva waiting in the wings to take the stage.

But the optics of the things were the most striking. Britney, at 29, remains sturdily, conventionally beautiful. Outfitted in boots and a short but glamorous black dress, she appeared the modern-pop definition of "statuesque." And then there was Gaga as Calderone: blonde hair replaced by dark mop, her features elfin and unspectacular, her get-up shapeless and drab, her stature tiny. By pairing the two for a kind of lifetime achievement award, MTV was necessarily asking us to contrast the women. Gaga, it seemed, had picked out her shtick for the night in part to play up that contrast. And why not? With her endless parade of costume changes and her guilt-free lyrical message, Gaga's obsessed with remaking standards of beauty and achievement so that they're set by individuals, not establishments. She's the incredible, cross-dressing, anti-Britney.

Rule 5 Britney Spears Free 'Femme Fatale'

Turns out the hotty did a free concert in San Francisco, "Britney Spears Concert on 'GMA': Singer Wows Thousands of Fans at San Francisco Concert," and "Watch Britney Spears Perform 'Till the World Ends' in San Francisco":

VIDEO PULLED OVER COPYRIGHT CLAIM

Turns out I scooped Linkmaster Smith on the Britney news. The dude's been giving me the heads up on the "Femme Fatale" for some FMJRA blogging, which is cool. Not only that, Sir Smitty deserves a stand alone shout out for doing some great blogging from the Bagram location, which isn't the most common spot for us denizens of the conservative 'sphere. Ya dude.

Anyway, here's some link around action. First off TrogloPundit's hit a milestone: "How to get a million hits on your blog in two years, one month, and fourteen days." That's sweet. I'd love to be getting my 3 million hits, but traffic's been down and Instapundit's been keeping me dry! On the other hand, This Ain't Hell linked yesterday to my round up on progressive anarcho-endorsements: "I wish, I just wish…"

And see the other friends of American Power: Amusing Bunni's Musings, Astute Bloggers, Bob Belvedere, CSPT, Dan Collins, Eye of Polyphemus, Gator Doug, Irish Cicero, Left Coast Rebel, Mind-Numbed Robot, Legal Insurrection, Lonely Conservative, PA Pundits International, Pirate's Cove, Saberpoint, Snooper, WyBlog, The Western Experience, Yankee Phil, and Zion's Trumpet. Plus, top it off with Theo's Bedtime Totty.

And also a big thanks to Proof Positive, who once again has been doing some great roundups.

BONUS: * American Perspectives, " Shakira - She Wolf - rule 5." Not my favorite politically, but lovely nevertheless!

Support Britney! Dad Imposes Bra-Only Mandate!

Conflicting stories out this morning.

At The Sun, "
You Can't Nip Out Like That":
BRITNEY SPEARS' worried father has banned her from leaving home without wearing a bra.

Dad JAMIE - who has legal control over all Britney's affairs - fears his troubled daughter is getting close to the brink again and has imposed a host of new rules on the Womanizer singer.

He is embarrassed by constant pictures of her nipples popping out of her clothes and has insisted she only leaves her Los Angeles home wearing the correct support.

Jamie, 57, is taking the order so seriously he has even threatened to sack one of the 28-year-old's security guards who has let her be photographed bra-less several times in recent weeks.

Jamie recently forced his daughter to dump her 38-year-old boyfriend JASON TRAWICK because he was worried she was falling back into her emotional turmoil after years of recovery.

He feared their volatile relationship was sending fragile Britney close to the edge.

A pal revealed: "Jamie's control over Britney's life is incredible. He hates the pictures of her with her nipples all over the place so he has banned her from leaving the house without a bra.

"He wants her to put across the right impression.
But check TMZ, "Britney Spears -- Free to Go Free Boobin'":
Despite multiple reports to the contrary ... Britney Spears' father has not given her a bra ultimatum -- in fact, we're told he laughed when he heard the story.

As the tale goes, Jamie Spears was embarrassed by pics of Brit Brit showing off her nip nips, so he imposed a "must wear a bra" rule on his famous conservatee. But sources close to the family tell us there is no such rule in place, nor has there even been any thought of one.

Britney Spears Un-Airbrushed

Some unexpected Britney blogging, from the Daily Mail, "Britney Spears bravely agrees to release un-airbrushed images of herself next to the digitally-altered versions":

Celebrities and the industry around them is often accused of producing images that affect young people's body image.

Which is why it's so refreshing to see one of the world's most famous pop stars allowing all of their imperfections to be highlighted.

Britney Spears has allowed the pre-airbrushed images from a shoot she took part in for fashion firm Candie's to be used ALONGSIDE the digitally-altered ones, so people can see the difference ....

A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: 'Britney is proud of her body - imperfections and all.'

Of the experience, the singer told press: 'I had so much fun shooting the Candies for Kohl's campaign. My favorite set-up was against the gigantic wall of pink cotton candy.'

And she added: 'I got to wear the cutest clothes and they are perfect for summer!'
